At the heart of a strong community lies a thriving non-profit sector. These organisations often face daunting challenges, such as limited resources, high demand, and insufficient funding. Consequently, many struggle to achieve their desired outcomes and lack the professional guidance, capacity, or capabilities to step back and consider the most effective and efficient approach to do so.
The Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS) is a transformative one-day community event designed to bridge this gap. Project Managers, Business Analysts, other Business Professionals, and students come together to provide pro-bono advisory services to local charities and non-profit organisations. By collaborating closely with non-profits, consulting teams help scope projects, and define clear outcomes and a plan to support non-profits achieve their goals, helping non-profits gain the momentum needed to tackle their initiatives head-on.
Following the successful inaugural event held in November 2022 at the Beehive, PMDOS is even better positioned to make a lasting impact on the New Zealand non-profit sector. Since launch, over 100 consultants have volunteered their time to support 30 non-profits spanning sectors such as youth development, community development, advocacy, education, and the environment, delivering work all across New Zealand.
We’re passionate about empowering non-profits to achieve their goals through effective project management practices. Join us for an unforgettable day of collaboration and learning – we can’t wait to work with you!
Angus Middleton, PMDOS Director, is delighted to welcome Nonsuch as the principal partner for our second Wellington event in March 2024, building on their contributions from the inaugural Wellington event in 2022. Nonsuch will also provide a number of their professionals on the day as expert coaches and consultants.
Nonsuch is very pleased to be the principal sponsor of the Project Management Day of Service this year. We applaud this PMI NZ initiative as an active and practical initiative in which we can assist the non-profit sector who have placed service to their communities as their primary business driver above profit. Nonsuch is a long-time supporter of PMI NZ, both through our support of the annual Project Management conference and the ongoing development of the project, programme, and portfolio communities here in New Zealand.

On 15th March 2024 at the Banquet Hall at the Beehive, Wellington, we proudly hosted our Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS) event. Supported by our principal sponsor Nonsuch, nearly 100 participants gathered for a day filled with collaboration and impact. This time, we were thrilled to welcome 15 non-profit organisations representing a diverse spectrum of initiatives ranging from mental health, environment, food poverty, migrant support, and Pasifika initiatives. These initiatives were supported by an amazing team of 55 consultants and coaches.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Principal sponsor Nonsuch, our venue partner Parliamentary Services, our volunteer partner Volunteer Wellington, and our founding organization PM4Change.
We look forward to expanding PMDOS to the mighty Waikato. Watch this space!
In November 2023 at the University of Auckland we held our first Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS) in the City of Sails. Nearly 100 participants took part in the day held at the School of Engineering and partnering with Volunteer Auckland. There were 30 non-profit representatives from different sectors across Tamaki Makaurau, 60 consultants, 10 postgraduate Auckland University students and a team of expert coaches. The teams worked together on 14 initiatives throughout the structured consulting day.
There were some great presentations at the end of the day with teams sharing their PMDOS experience, roadmap development, and next steps for non-profits. We look forward to having an even bigger PMDOS in November 2024 partnering again with the University of Auckland in an even bigger space so we can include more non-profits across the city! Many thanks to our non-profit partner Volunteer Auckland, our university and host partner, the University of Auckland and sponsors PM Training School, Inspira Project Management and our founding organisation PM4Change in Washington, D.C. If you would like to volunteer in 2024 please email pmdos@pmi.nz
We look forward to expanding PMDOS to the mighty Waikato in mid 2024! Stay Tuned!
Nearly 100 participants took part at the 2022 Wellington PMDOS. This included 30 non-profit representatives, 60 consultants, and a team of expert coaches.
