About PMDOS

Non-profit organisations in Wellington and Auckland: Are you ready to take your initiatives to new heights and make an even greater impact in your community? The Project Management Day of Service (PMDOS) is here to support you on your journey towards success.

Limited resources, high demand, and funding constraints often hinder non-profits from reaching their full potential. That’s where PMDOS comes in. PMDOS is a one-day event where non-profits get the undivided attention of Project Managers and other Business Professionals who are eager to lend their expertise, completely free of charge.

They will help you to overcome some of your toughest challenges by providing an outside perspective and personalised support tailored to your organisation’s unique needs. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of your organisation and/or a comprehensive and manageable plan of action, helping you to maximise your ability to serve your community.

Let’s break free from constraints and unleash the full potential of your non-profit. Applications for the event will open on Tuesday 1 August 2023. Submit your expression of interest below to be notified when applications and don’t miss the PMDOS opportunity to embark on a journey towards greater success.

PMDOS can help your non-profit:

•  Identify challenges and opportunities,
•  Ideate creative and practical solutions to tackle problems and leverage opportunities,
•  Develop manageable action plans for implementation, and
•  Break free from time, budget, and resource constraints to amplify impact in the community.

Non-profit frequently asked questions

What kinds of charity or non-profits will we be helping?

PMDOS Wellington is welcoming non-profits from the Greater Wellington region, including Kapiti Coast and the Wairarapa. PMDOS Auckland is welcoming non-profits from across the Greater Auckland region (Auckland council boundaries).

Non-profits can be grass-roots small charities up to larger organisations. Our goal is to get a diverse range of non-profit sectors involved in PMDOS.

How many can attend PMDOS?

We are asking that two representatives from each non-profit partake in the event. Please ensure when registering you will be able to attend on the respective dates for your city.

Should you work part-time or volunteer in the non-profit please ensure you have the day approved as leave or volunteering leave with your employer prior when registering for PMDOS.

What needs can be addressed at PMDOS?

The needs that are addressed at PMDOS range from strategic to tactical, operations to administrative, and human to technical. Examples of areas that can be covered include strategic planning, volunteer management, digital transformation, fundraising, operational improvements, and event planning. Within these areas, the assistance that you can expect from the consultants includes:

• Facilitating definition of a high-level business case
• Defining high level project scope
• Conducting risk assessments; or
• Assisting with other project management activities

What is the cost for non-profits to participate in PMDOS?

There is no cost for non-profits to attend PMDOS. But there is a maximum of two free participants per non-profit.

How much information does my organisation need to provide on my project/initiative and strategy?

In the application form, you’ll be asked questions about what you’d like help with, or what your organisation is struggling with. Information about the organisation’s strategy and goals will also be helpful.

If you would like support defining what you’d like help with at the event, there will be a project definition clinic held in August. The focus of the clinic will be to define the scope and goals the organisation and consultants can use the PMDOS event to tackle.

The application will help us to select a suitable team of project managers/consultant that will complement your project. When the PMDOS team reviews your application, a representative may contact you to ask for more information.

Does registration guarantee a spot at PMDOS 2023?

No – unfortunately we have limit of space available at PMDOS and we also need to ensure we get a corresponding number of consultants registering to help non-profits. We will do our best to get as many non-profits attending, and we will have a waiting list.
