Senior Project Manager / Head of Projects

We are currently seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager / Head of Projects to spearhead our dynamic project and estimation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, resourcing, and managing projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. The role will be full time and based in Ashhurst, Manawatù. In exceptional circumstances, we may consider hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage projects to ensure the successful execution of contracts.
  • Guide the estimation and project team in preparing and submitting accurate, cost-effective tenders, bids, and quotations in line with customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project management team competency, including the implementation of an effective knowledge management system, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute significantly to the ongoing certification to ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard.
  • Advocate for a safe and healthy work environment for all staff and visitors.

We welcome candidates with (but not limited to) experience in power generation and transmission, infrastructure, structural engineering, and construction industries. The ability to understand business challenges and strategic opportunities, and to develop clear project plans to meet all objectives, goals, and commitments is paramount.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Project Management certification(s) such as PMP.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in comparable senior Project Manager roles, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management techniques and disciplines.
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent health, safety, and environmental management skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business/commerce, engineering, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and achieve results.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships.

This strategic role offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing, professional project management and estimation team, drive continuous improvement within a growing organisation, and align our project management standards and processes, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Balance resource capacity and capability with known and anticipated demand.
  • Oversee project reporting, risk management, quality assurance, scheduling, and project commercial functions.
  • Ensure efficient and timely delivery of quotations, tender preparation, and submissions.
