Bushra’s vision is for project sponsors and benefit owners to actively champion their projects and support project managers to achieve successful project outcomes via successful benefits realisation.
Carol Speirs
Carol Speirs joined PMI in 1999 and achieved her PMP accreditation that year. She has been involved in question setting for PMP exams and has travelled to the USA to attend conferences. She was also on the team to create great NZ conferences on several occasions. Carol’s background includes running projects as well as training in project management, traditional and agile, to classes both online and in person. She enjoys the challenge of helping learners have those ‘light bulb’ moments where the theory meets the practical application of the tools and templates used in project management.
Career wise, she has had varied roles in power generation, banking, consulting, software and engineering. One of the more unusual places her work has taken her to is to EDF (nuclear power generator and retailer) to their nuclear site in Kent, UK, where she got to walk around a reactor – all suited and booted of course. Other unusual places are the prisons at Rimutaka and Tongariro – again in a teaching role, not as a guest.
When she is not training she is involved in Dress for Success (a charity that helps clothe others, with donated high quality items, for interviews, house viewings, court dates and many other events) and for many years she has been making recycled bags for Boomerang Bags. The group have made over 3,600 but we don’t see many boomeranging back!

Through this, she is one of the authors in the development of a toolkit to embed Christchurch City Council’s sustainability goals into their capital programme.
Sylvia is an experienced senior leader who is often involved in big-picture thinking and strategy formation for the organisations she works with. She thrives in collaborative, high-performance and challenging environments where initiative is valued.
Sylvia has long held an interest in good governance.
