The relationship between the project sponsor and the project manager is a critical one to project success. The project sponsor and project manager must work together during project delivery to ensure the business/customers achieve the expected benefits as per the approved business case. A sub-optimal working relationship between these 2 roles has negative consequences for the project delivery team as well as the business/customer long after the project delivery team have disbanded.
