Technical and Projects Lead

By Sarah Colcord
West Auckland
May 13, 2026
Full-time
Autex Acoustics
  • Lead technical projects from concept to launch
  • Join a global Kiwi manufacturer known for sustainable innovation
  • Enjoy wellness perks, flexibility and development support

Autex is a global Kiwi manufacturer known for sustainable, design-led acoustic and interior products that help create effective high performing spaces for people to work, learn and connect.

We’re looking for a Technical & Projects Lead to help turn great product ideas into practical outcomes. This role sits across engineering, manufacturing, project management, product development, quality and compliance — keeping people aligned, projects moving and technical requirements on track.

You don’t need to be the strongest technical specialist in the room. You do need to be organised, practical, curious and confident working with different personalities — from creative product thinkers through to production teams who need clear direction.

Why join Autex?

  • Lead varied technical projects across product development, testing, compliance and launch.
  • Work with a supportive, close-knit team with strong technical, quality, acoustic and sustainability knowledge around you.
  • Enjoy a people-first workplace with wellness initiatives, gym access, physio, subsidised fresh food, flexibility when needed and development support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinate technical and product development projects from idea through to trial, testing and delivery.
  • Keep milestones, actions, risks and timelines on track.
  • Support product testing, including fire, acoustic, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Work with internal teams, external test houses, universities and industry bodies.
  • Ensure products meet relevant standards across NZ, Australia, the UK and the US.
  • Support technical queries from sales, marketing, production and customers.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and development support to team members.

What you’ll bring

  • A background in science, engineering, manufacturing, product development, materials, quality or technical project work.
  • Strong project coordination skills and the ability to follow through.
  • Clear communication and the ability to explain technical information simply.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
  • A practical mindset and willingness to get close to the product and testing process.
  • Resilience when priorities change or projects shift direction.
Experience with ISO, AS/NZS, ASTM, building products, acoustics, fire testing or formal project management would be useful, but not essential.

About you
You’ll be someone who can bring structure to ideas, keep people focused and move work forward without creating unnecessary friction. You’re comfortable working in a creative, fast-moving environment where priorities can change, and you know how to build relationships, ask the right questions and get things done.
This is a great opportunity to join a respected Kiwi business with a global reach that has strong values, excellent people support and a role where your project leadership and communication skills will make a real impact.

To find out more, contact Fiona Clarke on 027 688 8837. Applications close 3 June 2026 or when the vacancy is filled so we encourage you to apply promptly. Your application will be received in confidence.
