Benefits of being a member of PMI

Joining PMI has many benefits – from discounts to events, training and conferences –  to access to a vast range of online information, tools and resources. You can participate in webinars and podcasts, in-person and online training, get access to career content, connections and resources. Members have opportunities to ask questions and participate in professional discussions, read reviews and purchase discounted books and resources.

By joining the New Zealand Chapter of PMI you have further opportunities at a local level, too.

Take part in a survey

Victoria University student, Kimberley Russell  is reaching out to the project management community to participate in a confidential questionnaire to support her thesis "Identify procurement methods which yield positive project outcomes for Building Information Modeling (BIM)."

This topic focuses on procurement methods in association with BIM (Building Information Modelling), looking to understand how the construction industry currently procures BIM within a project, and the difference found between traditional and innovative procurement methods. It is hoped that this study will identify procurement methods that are most suitable to be used when utilising BIM within a project.

Kimberley is also open to responses from projects that do not use BIM processes, which may help draw conclusions regarding if procurement may have impacted on project outcomes. 

There are three aims looking to be achieved through the investigation of this thesis.

1.  The identification of popular procurement methods used to procure BIM within the New Zealand construction industry,

2.  Recognition of ‘successful’ procurement of BIM, measuring ‘success’ as a project meeting criteria within the Triple Constraint (Time, Cost, Quality), and

3.  The development of a matrix presenting the different procurement methods used within the New Zealand construction industry bringing to light positive and negative aspects of each method.

The survey is open from 20 July 2018 until 20 August 2018.
